House-Soiling (Cats) Check List

Use this checklist as you work to curtail your cat’s house soiling. Simply check off each item you have completed.

  • Vet check
  • Clean all soiled items with an urine enzymatic cleaner
  • Add additional litterbox(es), if needed (# of cats in house + 1)
  • Scoop litterbox(es) at least once a day
  • Use a litter with no fragrance
  • Uncover litterbox(es)
  • Put ½” of child’s play sand or dirt under litter
  • Put a pinch of catnip in each corner of each litterbox
  • Increase daily, interactive exercise
  • Use honeysuckle toys and avoid catnip toys
  • If cat is soiling in only one area, try to block area with foil or upside down carpet runner. Place drops of oil of citronella to deter cat from the area.
